Job Description: Executive Director
Basic Function – The Executive Director shall serve as lead administrator of the Bell Baptist Association (BBA), to fulfill its mission faithfully, effectively, efficiently, and lovingly. The scope is to be a/an: minister to the churches and church leaders; mission strategist; counselor to churches; interpreter of the denomination(s); mentor to pastors and staff; and ambassador/liaison to the public at large – always striving for improvement throughout the BBA. The Executive Director is accountable to the BBA Board.
Position Expectations:
- Be a spiritual and organizational leader who helps to guide the BBA which, in turn, will result in healthy, growing, mission-minded congregations.
- Be an “intentional” partner with every pastor of BBA churches.
- Will assist pastors, staff, and laypeople by being the person they can call on regularly to help them through coaching, consulting, mentoring, and teaching.
- Be in the field often, visiting with pastors, staff, and laypeople of the churches.
- Be aware and up to date to share information concerning activities both in and outside of the BBA that may be useful and applicable to improving the association.
- Fostering of fellowship and mutual commitments between and among all churches of the BBA.
- Creative in building an environment in which churches want to be on mission together.
- Develop avenues that involve the enlisting and training of volunteers to help strengthen the individuals, churches, and BBA.
- Responsible for the leadership of the entire association life and discerning priorities for the allocation of time, money, and other resources. Provide support to the various teams as they seek to fulfill their stated purposes.
- Give administrative oversight to the financial and personnel resources of BBA in accordance with the association’s purpose and values.
- Supervise the staff employed by the BBA and conduct annual performance reviews of all staff. Recommend any additional staff as the association has needs.
- Serve as a liaison between BBA and various conventions, para-church organizations, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, and other partner entities.
- Perform other assignments and duties as may be outlined by the BBA Board.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the adopted BBA Personnel Policies and Procedures.
